BETHLEHEM (AP) A gunman killed a sniper during an auction, wounding her in the leg and leaving her with a bullet lodged in her chest, the state prosecutor said Friday.
Maryanne Bemidji-Gores was auctioning off her family’s antique collection and the AK- 47 assault rifle she bought on the day of the shooting, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Bemidjis-Gore was shopping in the small town of Nachos, northeast of New York City, when the attack occurred, prosecutor Brian Mancini said.
The gun had been used as a target for an auction held in Nachops home, he said.
Mancini declined to release the name of the woman, who is still being treated for her wounds.
