KAUFMAN — The family of a Kaufman auctioneer says it is still looking for the man who was fatally shot by police while auctioning off the property of a local family.
The Kaufman family of four has been trying to find Mark Kaufman, who was shot to death in the parking lot of his home on Tuesday.
The family said they believe he was killed by police after he fired on them.
Kaufman’s son, John, said Wednesday that police are investigating the shooting.
“There is an ongoing investigation,” he said.
“The Kaufman’s are very close to our family.
They have offered their help.”
Police said they were called to a home on the 1700 block of St. Louis Avenue at 1:25 p.m. after receiving reports of a man who had been shot.
Police said they found a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound and taken him to the hospital.
Authorities said Kaufman was inside the home when he was shot.
A Kaufman auction has been scheduled for Thursday.
A police spokesman said Wednesday night that no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
