The first time I heard about auction direct, I was stunned.
The online auctions offered to sell me a customised and personalized set of shoes, and I’d spend a few hundred dollars on them.
After a week, I had paid off my mortgage, bought a home, had a baby and lived happily ever after.
A year later, when I found out about auctions through other platforms, I didn’t expect it to be this good.
The site has grown from being a niche online retailer into a mainstream business and is now worth nearly $300m, according to a study from the consultancy App Annie.
That makes it the biggest online gift card network in the world.
Here’s how to find the perfect gift.
1.
Don’t buy a bunch of items at once The most important thing to remember about eBay is that you can’t buy all the items in a set.
Instead, you need to look at your wish list and try to select items that will fit the criteria for your wish.
You can find a list of a lot of different items at the bottom of your wish page.
You should also check if there are any restrictions on which items you can buy, such as age restrictions.
When you make a purchase, you can also choose to cancel it or pay a fee.
If you cancel, you’ll have to wait 30 days to try again.
The same goes for the payment method.
You’ll also need to make sure that you’re not using an item that isn’t part of your item list.
2.
Find a way to pay yourself eBay will give you a credit for the money you spend on your shopping.
However, this credit will expire within 10 business days after you’ve spent it.
You may need to pay off the credit before you can pay yourself.
You won’t be able to use the money for anything else and it will be lost if you don’t pay it off.
3.
Don’s favourite item is the shoes The best way to find out what you’re missing out on is to find an item you really like.
eBay doesn’t have a list like that for shoes.
If your wish is to have a custom-made shoe, for example, it might be easier to shop on eBay for something else.
For more information on what you can and can’t do, see What is eBay?
4.
Make sure your wishes are compatible eBay’s policies don’t always work exactly the same for everyone.
You might want to check that you have a similar item in your wishlist, but you might also want to make some modifications.
For example, if you’re planning to get a gift card, you might want your card to match that wish, instead of buying a set of expensive shoes.
5.
Set up a shopping cart If you’re shopping online, you may want to set up a cart, a list where you can shop in bulk and buy specific items.
You could do this by entering a shopping name and shipping address on the shopping cart page and then clicking on the ‘Add to Cart’ button.
You will then have to add items to the cart and pay the seller to complete the purchase.
You then can add the items to your cart and click ‘Add’ to get started.
You’re then able to browse and buy your items.
If a purchase is complete within 10 days of the auction, the item will be marked as paid and your payment will be added to your PayPal account.
You cannot add items that you’ve already paid for to the shopping carts.
6.
Make a note of the shipping cost If you want to pay a small amount for a single item, make sure you write down the shipping fee.
You don’t have to include a shipping address, but it’s a good idea to keep track of the cost of shipping items.
7.
Check your account balance Every time you pay for an item, PayPal sends you a check that contains your account information.
PayPal says this is your credit card.
8.
Pay the fee When you pay, PayPal will send a check to your credit or debit card to settle your balance.
PayPal will also add a fee to your payment to cover the fees for processing your transaction.
9.
Change your PayPal settings To see how your PayPal balance will change when you buy or sell items, you should first go to PayPal’s ‘Account Settings’.
Click on ‘Account’ in the left-hand navigation bar, and then ‘Personal Info’.
Under ‘Personal Information’, click ‘View my account’ and you’ll see your PayPal details.
Click ‘Change Personal Info’ to change your information.
10.
Change the payment details Once you’ve changed your payment information, PayPal won’t recognize the change.
You need to change it again when you make another transaction.
This can be done through PayPal’s site or in the PayPal app.
Once you make your second transaction, you will see your balance reset and you will need to re-enter your PayPal information.
If this happens, you’re done.
You’ve already done everything you need. 11. Check
