A Rock Island, Iowa, auction house will sell a $1 million antique furniture collection for about $1 per piece.
The auction is scheduled to take place Oct. 18 at the Rock Island Hotel & Casino in Iowa City.
The collection includes many pieces from the 1920s through the 1970s.
It was purchased by the Rock Islanders in 2015 and the collection includes the following items: a 1920s typewriter, a 1970s computer, a 1920 home theater, a 1950s stereo and a 1920 telephone.
The property will sell for about 75 percent of the appraised value of the collection.
Auctioneer Scott Mays said the furniture collection is being used as an example of how the art of the furniture industry changed after World War II.
“We hope this collection will encourage people to have a look and to appreciate the wonderful craftsmanship that was in these pieces and the history of the industry,” he said.
