BEND, Australia — A surplus auction for animals is opening in Brisbane this week.
The Livestock Auction and RSPCA is asking for donations of up to $100 to help fund the animals and their care.
Animal rescue group Animal Rescue International (AIR) says the auction will be open to the public.
They say the charity will be accepting donations from 4pm on Wednesday to 10am on Thursday, with a total value of up $100K.
“The animal rescue community is heartbroken that one of our own was euthanased today.
These animals need our help now more than ever,” AIR’s chief executive officer, Nick O’Neill, said in a statement.
This will be a great opportunity for the public to show their support for the animals in need, the charity said.
There will also be a public auction, featuring an auction of the rescued animals, at 9:30am on Saturday.
ABC News contacted AIR for comment.
